So, you’re building a website (or refreshing your current one)—exciting! As a personal brand photographer, I know that one of the most important elements of a standout website is high-quality brand photos that instantly connect with your audience. But how many do you need? And what types of photos should you provide to your web designer? Let’s break it down!

Why Your Website Needs More Than Just a Headshot

Your website isn’t just a digital business card—it’s a powerful tool for building relationships and converting visitors into clients. While a great headshot is a must, a strong brand presence requires a mix of images that showcase who you are, what you do, and how you serve your clients.

Your web designer’s goal is to make your website visually engaging, easy to navigate, and aligned with your brand. Supplying them with a variety of brand photos ensures they have everything they need to create a stunning and strategic design.

The Ideal Photo List for Your Website

To make your website shine, provide your designer with a well-rounded selection of personal brand photos. Here’s what I recommend:

1. Headshots & Lifestyle Portraits (3-5 images)

Your headshot should be front and center on your About page and possibly the homepage. But let’s not stop there! Lifestyle portraits—images of you working, engaging with clients, or simply looking approachable—help tell your story in a way that feels warm and inviting.

2. Behind-the-Scenes & Process Shots (3-5 images)

People love seeing how things come together! If you offer services, show yourself in action—coaching, designing, creating, or meeting with clients. If you sell products, behind-the-scenes images of your workspace or creative process make your brand more relatable and transparent.

3. Product Photos (5-10 images, if applicable)

For product-based businesses, high-quality product photos are crucial. Your web designer will need a mix of clean, well-lit product shots for e-commerce pages and lifestyle images that show your products being used in real life.

4. Wide & Banner Images (2-4 images)

Your web designer will likely need horizontal images for website banners and section headers. Be sure to provide wide shots with space for text overlays if needed. These images should feel cohesive with your brand and create a professional, polished look.

5. Team & Office Photos (If applicable, 3-5 images)

If you have a team, show them off! People love putting faces to a business. Team photos, office shots, or workspace images help create a sense of connection and trust.

6. Call-to-Action & Storytelling Photos (3-5 images)

Think about the key actions you want visitors to take—booking a call, purchasing a product, or signing up for a service. Provide images that reinforce these actions, like you smiling while holding a laptop, interacting with a client, or showcasing your work. These help create a seamless journey through your website.
