Stop Hiding! Why You (Yes, You) Need to Show Up in Your Brand

Let’s just say it: You are your brand. Whether you're a solopreneur, small business owner, or the face of a growing team, people want to connect with you—not just your logo or your list of services.

And yet, I can’t tell you how many amazing business owners I meet who are still hiding behind their websites. I get it. Putting yourself out there can feel awkward, vulnerable, even a little cringe. There’s real data to back this up: 82% of consumers feel more positive about a brand after seeing personalized content or getting a peek behind the curtain. Translation? People want to know the human behind the hustle.

Think about your own habits—when you scroll a new business’s website or Instagram, do you feel more drawn to the pages that show real people or the ones filled with stock images and generic copy? (Exactly.)

Show your face. Often.

A strong personal brand includes more than just a cute headshot. You want to be visible throughout your online presence. Start with:

Homepage – Make it welcoming with a great portrait and a short intro.

About Page – Let your personality shine. Show what makes you you.

Social Media – Sprinkle in lifestyle images, behind-the-scenes shots, and even the occasional blooper (trust me, people love it).

Email Newsletters – Add your photo to your sign-off. It makes those emails feel like they’re from a real person—which, they are!
